Level Control

In fluid mechanics Level Control refers to devices to control mass level. For pipes this is achieved by valves and Level Control is often used as an industry term to represent that service. At Portland Engineering we are experts in designing and working on Level Control control systems relating to fluid dynamics. We regularly use our knowledge to help our clients save money by designing the right system.

Level Control is complex and we approach every project by identifying how level sensors can be inserted into tanks, if at all; whether point sensors are adequate or continuous sensors are required; whether or not sensors can come in contact with process fluid or if they have to be located in vapor space; whether direct measurement of the level is needed or if indirect detection of hydrostatic head is acceptable; and whether or not tank depressurization or process shutdown is acceptable when sensors have to be removed or maintained.
